changes and additions

This is Lydia, our 8 week old calico. As soon as we had moved into the new house, we brought her home from my mother's (who's kitty just had a litter). Life has been VERY interesting! I have spent the last few days trying to sleep while a kitten attacks my toes and cleans my face.... and trying to convince my older cat, Elijah, that I still love him! It has taken a few days, but he is finally acknowledging me!

In the middle of the night last night I heard a hiss from my older cat (VERY rare) and followed the sound just in time to see him scurry atop the entertainment center. Apparently the kitten had pounced him while he slept and startled him. He spent the remainder of the night on the entertainment center and is now sleeping on my desk. I can't blame him... she's a frisky little thing and her playful little claws are sharp as daggers!

With my 2 little boys, the kitty had already been sufficiently socialized for the rest of her life. They are quite attentive.... I just have to keep them from shutting her in rooms or boxes or cupboards.... you get the idea.

The boys keep saying "She doesn't like me. She keeps running away!"

Umm.... Well.... Yeah...

Maybe if they would stop clobbering her, she would come to them!

But that is not likely to happen soon!

As soon as I can find my camera in the moving boxes I will take pictures of our resident squirrels! We have a pair living in our giant evergreens in the back yard. They are constantly chasing each other around the trees and up one and down the other.... so cute!
