The sneaky preditor.

I lost one of my ducks last night.

According to DH (who found the missing duck behind our shed), something with small teeth ate out all its middle to the rib bones. The ducks are not flying enough to get out of the cage which means that something caught it and then jumped up over the cage and dragged it away.

None of the cats in the neighborhood are that big or that strong.

I don't know what animal did it.

A raccoon? An opossum?

There aren't any dogs to speak of around here. At least none that aren't well contained. We rarely have stray dogs.

I am planning to cover the cage with a net today. I am not sure if it will solve the problem or not, but the little birds are dropping like flies! I started out with 7-- now I am down to 3.

It is a smart little creature-- I have never had any problem when I am home. We come home to it.

Any advice for a beginner? What am I doing wrong?
