Eowyn's Knot -- free hair style instructions

>> Saturday, April 11, 2009

This has become one of my favorite hair styles for every day wear. I don't need any pins or barretts to keep it in. It is actually simply a knot in your hair. I can get away with this if I do it with alot of hair (atleast half) because my hair is so straight and slippery. If you have curly hair, you might not be able to get it back out!

My inspiration for this style comes from the movie "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers." In this movie, Eowyn, Princess of Rohan, ties her hair behind her head to get it out of her way. It is simple, elegant, and I had to try it!

Although I can get away with just knotting my hair, many ladies wouldnt' be able to. Instructions can be found at Dressy Tresses for a more secure and universal way to achieve this look.

Always make sure to comb/ brush out hair prior to shower / shampooing. a daily leave in conditioner such as "Infusium 21Leave in Conditioner" put in a spray bottle or "Aussie" leave in spray conditioner, are both very good at helping de-tangle and protect fragile hair. (Once or twice a week use deep or wash out conditioner.) Very gently comb hair with a large wide-toothed comb. Start at ends of hair and little by little work your way up the shaft of the hair section you are working on, until you get to the crown section. When combing out wet hair, you could section your hair and work from nape up to crown of head.
