Playing Grown Up

>> Sunday, March 29, 2009

This is what I feel like sometimes. I remember when I was a child that I was told that grown ups were just little kids with bigger bodies. Of corse, I didn't believe it. But now I understand. We never intirely grow up. We just learn to behave better. To hide our bad stuff better. And hopefully even overcome some of that bad stuff with time. But we are not perfect as children often think adults are. We are just as flawed... only now we have responsibility too! We struggle just as much... but the struggle is inside. It is in our hearts and our minds instead of in our stopping feet or flailing arms. And we don't have anyone there to tell us to straighten up when we are out of line. I guess that is why Jesus left us the Holy Spirit. To be our conscience. To remind us when we are stepping into the danger zone.
This is what I have realized: the struggle doesn't stop until you're dead. So every day you have to be prepared for the battle --the one within yourself.
