Month at a time cooking--step 1-- a freezer!

>> Friday, March 27, 2009

I know myself well enough to understand that, metophorically speaking, I am better at sprinting that running marathons. So I have been seriously considering monthly cooking. My first step in this was to find a freezer. After browsing the local box stores and a glace at the internet, I realized that a new one was entirely out of my price range. Oh, I could afford a REALLY small one, but it would NOT work for my intended purposes. So on to Craigs List. A few phone calls later I had located 2 different freezers. One of them (which I later bought) was a VERY large Kenmore model for $50. I will post pictures when DH and I pick it up in the AM! I am very excited.

I found some very good info on what to put in your deep freeze at the Beginnning Farmer's Wife.

Do you have any recipes that are specially good for freezing? I'd love if you'd share them! Or any advice on 1/month cooking? This is all new to me!
